Why Real Results May Differ

What you find in the room can differ from an estimate because of:

• Plan vs on-site: a measurement scaled off a drawing can differ from the same wall measured in the room, where corners are rarely perfectly square.
• Waste and layout: offcuts, pattern matching, and diagonal or herringbone layouts raise how much flooring you actually need beyond the bare area.
• Paint coverage: real coverage varies with surface porosity, texture, the colour underneath, and the number of coats, so a stated spread rate is only a starting point.
• Openings and obstructions: doors, windows, alcoves, and fittings change both the wall area to paint and the usable floor to lay.

Furniture, Clearance, and Rug Sizing

The clearance and rug tools apply simple rules of thumb to help you judge whether furniture fits and leaves sensible walkways. Real rooms have doors that swing, radiators, sockets, and traffic patterns that a footprint on a plan can’t capture. Treat the output as a rough guide, and test a layout with the actual pieces — a sofa and chairs, a bed, a table — before you commit to it.
